Among the dozens of Mac utilities I’ve installed and use each day is one that helps massage my gene; to keep me at peace with myself while chaos reigns supreme on my Mac’s screen. If you’re a Mac user with eight or more apps running at the same time then you understand that, well, simply put– things get lost on the screen. Command-Tab helps to find open apps and bring them frontmost on the screen, but what if the app has multiple open windows? For that you need. Clarity While I admit there’s an advantage to massaging my OCD gene by keeping my Mac’s screen uncluttered and organized, there’s another pragmatic reason. Finding specific apps and open windows is just much easier than on a Mac where apps and their windows are blown hither and yon by digital winds.
Moom gives you control over where on the Mac’s window an app’s window lives. Full window, left or right halves, top or bottom halves. Even better, Moom is intuitive. Hover your Mac’s screen pointer over the useless Green Button in the upper left corner of each window and you get a graphic drop down with screen locations options. Put the apps you use where you want them to be, all tucked in nice and sweet, like freshly ironed sheets with hospital corners.
There’s even a way to configure the number of blocks or segments in Moom’s grid. Moom gives you options to select windows and sections from the keyboard, which makes it a good utility for Mac power users (those who disdain the trackpad or mouse, and prefer a ‘hands on’ approach to the keyboard. While Moom is easy enough to use, Setup preferences come with plenty of options with custom user settings everywhere. Moom may be the best way ever to have plenty of app windows open and not get lost in the clutter. Moom is one of those great Mac utilities that will spoil you. It’s available on the Mac App Store, but there’s also a free try-before-you-buy version from the website.
The app is a bit more expensive than another favorite, which has fewer features, but is more intuitive.
